Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus
A highly rated all-inclusive on Playa Dominicus, known for its gardens and well-run service
About Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus
Iberostar Selection Hacienda Dominicus is one of the longest-running and most consistently praised all-inclusives on the south-east coast. It sits on Playa Dominicus, the long beach just south-east of Bayahíbe with two decades of Blue Flag certifications, and is built in a hacienda style, with colonial-look buildings spread through mature tropical gardens. It holds a 4.5 rating from well over 13,000 Tripadvisor reviews, with cleanliness and location among the highest scores.
The "Selection" tag is Iberostar's upper tier. Expect a large buffet plus several à la carte restaurants, multiple pools, a spa, a kids club, evening shows and non-motorized water sports. Iberostar also runs a sustainability program across its hotels, with a focus on reef protection and reducing single-use plastic, which fits the national-park setting here. Guests often mention the friendly staff and the entertainment team.
The beach is the big draw. Playa Dominicus has soft, pale sand, natural shade from palms, and calm, clear water that is safe for children most of the year. Parts of the shoreline are roped off for boat lanes, and dive and tour boats pick up from the beach, so it is easy to book a trip to Isla Saona or a dive at the hotel. Sargassum reaches this coast less often than Punta Cana, and resort crews clear the sand when it arrives.
The resort is not new, so some rooms feel more traditional than modern, and the property is large enough that walks between rooms, pools and beach can be long. It is mid-size by Punta Cana standards, though, and feels calmer than the big resort complexes in Bávaro.
Getting there: La Romana International Airport is about 25 minutes by car, and Punta Cana International about an hour to an hour and a quarter. Bayahíbe village, with its restaurants and boat pier, is around five minutes by taxi.
Best for: families, couples and repeat visitors who want a reliable, well-kept all-inclusive on one of the region's best beaches. Not for: travelers who want ultra-modern design, an adults-only atmosphere (look at Catalonia Royal La Romana or Secrets La Romana), or a walkable town outside the gate.
