Miches & Costa Esmeralda

Long, quiet beaches on Samaná Bay, with a new cluster of resorts behind them

Miches sits on the southern shore of Samaná Bay in El Seibo province, about 1.5 to 2 hours north of Punta Cana airport by the Bávaro to Uvero Alto to Miches highway. Its north-facing beaches, led by Playa Esmeralda on the Costa Esmeralda, were almost empty until Club Med opened in 2019. Since late 2024 a wave of big all-inclusives has followed, but the coast is still far quieter than Bávaro, with Montaña Redonda and the Redonda and Limón lagoons a short drive away.
